Maria O'Dea

Maria O’Dea has been playing bassoon since age eleven, where she initially studied with John Hearne at TU Dublin Conservatoire. By fifteen she became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and later went on to play with Irish Youth Wind Ensemble and Ulster Youth Orchestra. She graduated from the Royal Irish Academy of Music in 2021 with a Diploma in Music Teaching and Performing.

She is currently studying as an undergraduate at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the tuition of Daniel Jemison, with thanks to the generous support of the Franby Scholarship. She has had the pleasure to participate in projects both inside and outside Guildhall such as Guildhall Opera, UBU Ensemble, Fidelio Orchestra and most recently, with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.
