Summer Concert at Leighton House
5 July 2024
The 3rd of July saw us present our summer concert at the distinguished Leighton House. Thank you to so many of you that joined us. It was, once again, an evening of superb talent, and to be back in the stunning Leighton House just gave a really flourishing backdrop to the proceedings.
Georgina Cassidy opened the evening on the piano playing Harry O’Connor’s – winner of Irish Heritage’s bursary for composition – Dyptich: Two Winds. Georgina, many will remember, was the 2022-2023 winner of Irish Heritage’s accompanist’s/special award, associated with the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and performed at the festival this year in Lismore, Co. Waterford.
Following Georgina was Fiachra de hOra on viola, joined by Kaja Sešek on violin and their synchronicity was the talk of the interval. Fiachra was this year’s recipient of the accompanist’s/ special award.
After the interval Sacha Bistany, joint recipient of the Homan Potterton bursary, opened the second half on guitar and included a surprise additional piece.
Jayden Lamcellari on the cello, the other recipient of the Homan Potterton bursary, was joined by Georgina once more to round off what everyone present considered a really marvellous evening.
